Welcome to Spirit-Works celebration of Yoga!

 

The word Yoga means ‘union’ and comes from the Sanskrit root yuj meaning ‘to yoke or join together’. This system for mind-body health is centuries old, designed to gain control over the body, breath, and mind so that enlightenment can be attained.

 

For hundreds of years, various cultures have attempted to extend the meditative state into other areas of physical activity, resulting in many forms of mind/body/spirit fitness programs from whirling to yoga.

 

Vinyasa is a steady flow of connected yoga postures linked with breathing exercises in a continuous movement  It is designed to nurture, maintain, strengthen, and actualize the entire self and is best practiced in a state of mindfulness, to reap the maximum benefit.
