Quiet Beauty
by James Todd

I have been intrigued with the cello since I was a little girl sitting in a giant concert hall, listening to the Oklahoma City Symphony. The sounds emanating from this large musical instrument, just seemed celestial to me at that time. Fifty + years later, my views have not changed. It is still a heavenly sound.
My step-daughter now plays the cello in the Albuquerque Symphony, and one of my dear friends in Tucson took up the instrument on her 40th birthday! She says the resonance of the deep tones of the cello reverberate through her chest & being, like no other sound can do.
And that is part of why I was excited to review this CD. An entire album dedicated to the warm, sweet and soulful notes of the cello! Add the lovely accompaniment of a piano (by the cellist James Todd, as well as pianist William Morse).. and I am ‘blissed-out’.
James Todd has been blessed to play with many stars, such as Yanni, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, and Andrea Bocelli (and many others too numerous to mention). He is a well seasoned musician with a talent that has taken him far.
In reviewing a CD, I usually try to select 3 or 4 tunes that resonate well with me, & recommend them to my fellow listeners. But this one just couldn’t be whittled down to a select few. They ALL were my personal favorites. This is a CD that will be in my player for a long, long time to come. And again, was noted by my husband as a ‘beautiful’ album to relax to.
