The Gospel According to Judas Iscariot
by Peter Leighton
It is seldom that I have the ‘fun’ of reviewing a book of fiction. Most of our work here deals with the articles and books of non-fiction with a spiritual bent. But this week I was once again taken away on a wild ride of fiction, that had me as riveted as ‘The DaVinci Code’. It has always been my thinking that fiction can show the truest nature of human beings. And this book proved to be just that treat.
The book opens with the young professional man Roy Hammer, filming for a documentary company, when he comes across a rare Biblical manuscript that ‘feels’ way too familiar. Accused of stealing the works, he is faced with a trial that threatens to take away his livelihood and belief systems. Having to prove that he has had a past-life experience with the Christ child, as Judas, his best friend… proves to be a daunting task.
Mr. Leighton will take you back to Biblical times that make you feel as if you are sharing the conversations & past times. I wish I had had this book to share with my Sunday School classes in the past… I think it would have made the era come more to life for them.
There is lots of intrigue, and a tantalizing cross-over into Roy Hammer’s own personal spiritual search, as Jesus & Judas share their youthful years as best friends traveling the Orient.
I know you will enjoy reading this book of adventure & suspense, & it will keep you turning pages until the very end!
