Fairy Tales
Music from the ballet “Hans Christian Andersen”
by Jeffery Fisher

I first heard the sweet strains of Hans Christian Andersen, when I was a school girl, attending a field trip to the Oklahoma Symphony. What a treat it was for me then, and an even greater one now. I think we tend to forget the beauty of classical music when we aren’t delving into so much, in today’s busy world. How is it that we’ve allowed commercial jingles and hip-hop radio to overtake our sensibilities in music appreciation? Okay, granted, maybe it’s just me… but I think it may be a few of you as well.
Jeffrey Fisher lived outside of Taos, NM. Having visited that area, I can fully understand how he was inspired to create these lovely sounds. However, he doesn’t stop at classical; he also performs new age, world, traditional jazz, blues, folk , and R&B.

All of the music on this album is superb, but Part I is my absolute favorite, because ‘Thumbelina’ (or ‘Inchellina’ as its proper title) was my childhood choice. I dedicated my enjoyment to my inner-child. And I’m sure she danced.
